Each year, the Western Cape Department of Education holds a Maths competition which sees the best and brightest minds from around the district compete for top Maths honours. For the first time in many years, Kronendal Grade 5 and 6 students participated in this event. The top performing candidates from the first round were invited to the finals, which was held on Saturday the 26th of August 2017 at Portia Primary School in Landsdowne.
The hour long Maths challenge was tough and tiring, but the four Kronendal students (William Alexander, Hanna Carew, Nia Swift & Matthew Hansen) performed well under pressure. Hanna Carew came first in the region, which is quite an achievement as there are 7 regions in the district, while William Alexander placed second, also for our region. Hanna and William also came second and third respectively in the METRO Central District.
